Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce

You can buy this stuff at Costco. Pure it on cream cheese and eat with crackers.

Hey Bonehead

WASHINGTON – “Frustrated.”

That was the subject line of an e-mail sent to millions of supporters late Wednesday night from President Obama’s re-election campaign. It expressed his frustration with Congress’ unwillingness to deal in bipartisan fashion with the country’s economic problems.

Dude, seriously? Did you think you could ram Obamacare down Republicans throat without ramifications? You are not trusted. At all! Never expect cooperation again. You freaking socialized healthcare in the US with zero bi-partisan support. Wake up McFly. Your second term will be worse. You will not have the senate in 2012. You made your bed and now you get to lie in it.

There are lots of idiots in the US that bought your line on being a different kind of politician. You ended up being more fiercely partisan than any other President in modern times.

Socialized medicine? You spent everything you had to get it. From tax dollars, political capital and your reputation. You got what you wanted. Now you are broke. Don’t expect anything from the Republicans in Congress.

Warren Buffett has lost his mind

This is the stupidest thing I’ve heard in a long time.

He must have lost his mind. The mega rich are infinitely better qualified for making good use of their money than politicians. They create jobs. Government creates welfare recipients. Jobs teach a man to fish. Government gives men a fish. Forget about tax breaks, loopholes, shelters. The rich still pay freaking all the taxes. 50% of Americans pay no federal tax. Shared sacrifice? Check out the top graph. http://hofw.net/blog/?p=21

Buffett calls for more taxes on ‘mega-rich’

August 15th, 2011 @ 9:40am
By Associated Press

(AP) – Billionaire investor Warren Buffett is calling on the so-called “mega-rich” to pay more in taxes.

Buffett said Monday in a New York Times opinion piece that he would immediately raise rates on households with taxable income of more than $1 million, and he would add an additional increase for those making $10 million or more.

He also recommends that the 12 members of Congress charged with devising a deficit-cutting plan leave rates for 99.7 percent of taxpayers unchanged.

“My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress,” Buffett wrote. “It’s time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice.”

Buffett noted that the mega-rich pay income taxes at a rate of 15 percent on most investment income but practically nothing in payroll taxes. The middle class, meanwhile, typically falls into the 15 percent and 25 percent income tax brackets and is hit with heavy payroll taxes. He said Washington legislators “feel compelled to protect us, much as if we were spotted owls or some other endangered species.”

Buffett said he knows many of the mega-rich well, and most wouldn’t mind paying more in taxes, especially when so many fellow citizens are suffering. He also said he has yet to see anyone shy away from investments because of tax rates on potential gains, even when rates were much higher in the mid-1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

“People invest to make money, and potential taxes have never scared them off,” he said.

Disgusted

I am so disgusted by Washington right now. First with the Democrats who, in the midst of this debt extension debate, argue that the Republicans need to compromise. It was only a year ago that the Democrats ran over Republicans over the health care vote. Now they act like the party of compromise?

The second thing that is really burning me up is the term “public service”. Being in politics or working in government, in ANY form short of the military, should not be called “public service”. If you get a paycheck it isn’t service.

Politicians act like they are in Washington to serve the people. They all know that they have to cut entitlements. We can’t continue to add more and more benefits to the population. They act like they agree but don’t do anything about it. They don’t even try to hid the fact that they operate differently in an election year.

Bad economic news was just released today. Apparently the first quarter numbers are being revised down from 1.9% growth to .4%. Get ready for Obama to blame it on businesses not taking his orders to hire.

Hey Cyclists

I’ve long been a foe of cyclists. Not mountain bikers. Not people riding in their neighborhoods. I’m a foe to the bikers riding streets that are not designed for cyclists. Living in Utah, that means all the mountain roads. Everyone knows there are roads that you can’t ride a bike on. I-15 is a good example. I believe many more roads should be considered off limits. How about State street? I’m not going to fight that one today. Today my beef is the winding mountain roads.

This week I was driving up East Canyon. I was pulling my boat to a reservoir to teach the motor boating merit badge to a group of scouts. I’m such a good guy! As I rode up the canyon I started encountering cyclists riding up the hill. They were mostly in groups of two but there were some singles. I noticed a state sign that said to watch for cyclists. Coincidentally, the radio had an announcement to watch for cyclists.

My question is what in the heck am I supposed to do when I’m approaching a blind curve with a double yellow line and I’ve got a cyclist on my right weaving back and forth. I’m putting up the hill pulling a trailer. I’m not in a Ferrari.

I took a few pics to show my dilemma? This road had dozens of these blind cures not five or six. I also photo-shopped in a rider.

Seriously, what should I do?

Lipstick on a Pig

Most companies spend years trying to develop a good name and reputation. Can you imagine Microsoft, McDonalds or Walmart doing a name change? So why would fifteen year old company want to change it’s name? Simple….they have made Qwest a terrible name and they have a horrible reputation. Unfortunately it takes more than a name change to make a company honest, reliable and service oriented.

Don’t be fooled!

Take responsibility for Pete’s Sake

Obama isn’t responsible for the recession or unemployment. He certainly contributed to the problem by supporting Barney Frank and Chris Dodd’s, house for everyone policies but there are lots of people who are culpable. He also failed to understand that markets have to correct when they make mistakes. Democrats think capitalists consider markets perfect. On the contrary, it is their imperfection that makes them work. They have to make corrections. It’s just like going out to eat. Have you ever ordered a dish from a restaurant and not enjoyed it? What did you do? You didn’t order it the next time. It was relatively easy to fix. The Gosplan would have you eating that same dish for five years before deciding to order something else. That may sound like a fare fetched example but its not. You are a consumer spending capital on goods and services. When those goods and services fail to meet your needs you realize your capital was wasted so you adjust. It’s no different than a bank or company running a business. Obama doesn’t get economics 101, so he increases the pain by dragging on the economy by spending money covering up the problem. You can’t afford the house so let’s make a few payments for you. Don’t get me started on “Cash for Clunkers”.

Listen to Obama this week, “There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers…. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM. You don’t go to a bank teller. Or you go to the airport and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking at the gate. So all these things have created changes in the economy.” http://www.marketwatch.com/story/obamas-atm-story-cant-explain-slow-hiring-2011-06-16?dist=countdown

“Structural issues”? Seriously? This goes to show who his supporters are. You seriously have to be a complete idiot to agree with that line of reasoning. Amazingly, those idiots are carrying iPhones instead of sending smoke signals. They are driving cars not walking and are wearing polyester not homespun.

Tony Yapias is a criminal too

This guy openly supports illegal aliens.

Tony Yapias

I’ve been watching him on the news for years. Tonight he’s totally in the face of Teresa Bassett who published a list of illegal aliens. He kept saying, “you know you are a felon right!”.

Tony, you are a criminal as well. I bet you could give me a list of a thousand illegal aliens. I bet you aid them on a daily basis. I’m sure you don’t feel the least bit guilty about it because you feel justified. Just like Mr. Bassett feels justified.

My guess is that Proyecto Latino de Utah, helps illegals in the same way that ACORN supports pimps and prostitutes. Think about it? Do you ever help illegals “work” the system?

Tony wants the whole world to bend for Latino’s. He wants the US Government, LDS Church, State of Utah, Public Schools, US Courts, District Courts everyone and anyone who lives and breaths to fall down at the feet of illegal aliens. He reminds me of George P. Lee and his zeal for the native Americans.

I traveled to Mexico earlier this year and was thoroughly disgusted. It is rampant with criminals. You can’t park a car or sit on the beach without someone trying to extort money from you. “If you pay me, I’ll make sure no body messes with your car.” “If you pay me I’ll make sure no one steals your stuff while you swim.” Mr Yapias would claim its the poverty. In fact, it has nothing to do with poverty. I’ve traveled abroad many times to places such as Nepal and India. The people there did not act that way.

I’m not saying Latino’s are criminals. They are not bad people. They are just like every other group. However, Mexico’s society has completely disintegrated. Mexican leaders have thrown in the towel. They expect America to own and solve every problem.

Let me ask a question. How many people do you know that took Spanish in high school? I don’t know the percentage but it’s pretty high. Now, how many Mexican’s in Mexico take English in high school? If you go to Germany, France, China, Japan etc. virtually all kids learn English in school. For Pete’s sake Mexico, just try. Give us something to work with.

Mr. Yapias reminds me of parents who believe their kids can do no wrong. He’s like the over indulging parents in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. You need to expect something from those you are serving. Expecting them to learn English. Demand that they put their Mexican flags away.

Mr. Yapias has received numerous awards from Mexico. How about working with them to clean up their country and earn a few awards from the US.

Supporters of John Edwards

If you were a supporter of John Edwards, I think you need some serious introspection. Besides the fact that his policies made no sense, I could see that he was a phony a mile away. I’m sure to his supporters his affair and the cover-up are very shocking but that’s because your capabilities to make decisions are severely impaired. For me he never passed the “smell test”.

Edwards supporters….think back on your lives. How many times have you been truly shocked to learn that someone was not who they claimed to be? My guess is that if you are honest you will find that once a month you have a V8 moment. If so, you should not be voting in this country.

For Edwards supporters who still think he is innocent, you need a labodamy.

For Edwards supporters who think he is guilty but would still vote for him…you still have Obama.

As for Mrs. Edwards. Don’t for a minute think she wasn’t every bit as hungry for power as her husband.

Hey Muslim World–Where is the Condemnation?

This guy looks nice enough. Unfortunately, he is in the club of the worlds worst dictators.

Bashar Al Assad, Syrian Dictator

He desperately wants to hold onto power. He is using all the usual tricks employed by tyrants. Unfortunately, murder isn’t enough. He’s taking peoples children: torturing and mutilating their bodies in order to keep parents of others quiet.

UNITED NATIONS — The U.N. children’s agency UNICEF called on Syria on Tuesday to investigate reports of “horrific acts” of violence against children detained during the current wave of unrest in the Arab country.

The call came after The New York Times reported on Monday that an online video showed a 13-year-old boy, arrested at a protest on April 29, who it said had been tortured, mutilated and killed before his body was returned to his family.

Protests against the rule of President Bashar al-Assad broke out in southern Syria in March and have spread across the country. Human rights groups say 1,000 civilians have been killed and 10,000 arrested in a government crackdown.

In a statement, UNICEF said use of live ammunition against demonstrators had reportedly killed at least 30 children, although it said it could not independently confirm that figure or the circumstances of their death.

The agency said it was “particularly disturbed by the recent video images of children who were arbitrarily detained and suffered torture or ill-treatment during their detention leading in some cases to their death.”

“We call on the government to thoroughly investigate these reports and ensure that perpetrators of such horrific acts are identified and brought to justice,” it added.
UNICEF did not specifically cite the case reported by The New York Times, involving Hamza Ali al-Khateeb, arrested in Jiza, a village near the southern city of Deraa, where the protests first erupted.

Video posted online (link requires a sign-in because of the graphic nature of the images) shows his battered, discolored face. His skin is scrawled with cuts, gashes, deep burns and bullet wounds that would probably have injured but not killed, The New York Times reported. According to an unidentifed narrator, his jaw and kneecaps are shattered, and his penis chopped off.

“These are the reforms of the treacherous Bashar,” the narrator says in the video. “Where are human rights? Where are the international criminal tribunals?”
Relatives told Al Jazeera that the boy’s parents were shocked when they saw their boy, who reportedly spent about a month in the custody of Syrian security forces.

“When Hamza’s mother came to see the body she was only shown his face,” a cousin, who was present at the time, told Al Jazeera.

“We tried to tell the father not to look, but he pulled the blanket back. When he saw Hamza’s body he fainted. People ran to help him and some started filming – it was chaos.”

The reported torture demonstrates a “total collapse” of the Syrian government’s willingness to listen to its people, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“President Assad has a choice, and every day that goes by the choice is made by default. He has not called an end to the violence against his own people, and he has not engaged seriously in any kind of reform efforts,” she added.

“Every day that goes by the position of the government becomes less tenable and the demands of the Syrian people for change only grow stronger,” Clinton said.
UNICEF reminded Syria Tuesday that as a party to the 1990 U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, it was bound to ensure children’s right to life, to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, and protection from violence, exploitation and abuse.

It said the government had a primary responsibility for the well-being of those affected by the unrest and a duty to ensure continuation of basic social services.

So where are the leaders of other Muslim nations on this? Saudi Arabia? Iran? Kuwait? Malaysia? Anyone? Bueller?

Silence is acceptance.
